WELCOME!

My name is Alexandra and I'm based in McHenry County, IL. I hope to be able to connect with photographers all around the world! My goal is to help photographers, beginning or professional, with social media outreach, editing, and overall tips.

You may ask why I am providing free resources... because for me starting out with little guidance was super confusing. I have learned these past few years all by myself because most courses I've found have been paid for.

Sooo... what can I provide for you?

What do I need in advance?

Don't know about internals of computers? Start here!

When I bought my first computer, I bought a computer with very low quality (internally) so it would act very slow and sometimes, more often than not, freeze up. I didn't know much about the computer I bought, other than it was cheap. I hope guide will give you a clearer view on what to look for while shopping.

WHAT IS CPU?

The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the primary component of a computer that acts as its “control center.” The CPU, also referred to as the “central” or “main” processor, is a complex set of electronic circuitry that runs the machine's operating system and apps. The less CPU running at a time will allow the computer to work faster and more efficent.

WHAT IS RAM?

Random-access memory, or RAM, is one of the most important parts of your computer. It provides high-speed, short-term memory for your computer's CPU. It is reccomended to get 12GB of RAM or higher.

WHAT IS MEMORY STORAGE?

Memory is what your computer uses to store data temporarily, while storage is where you save files permanently. When you save a file, it's copied from the memory onto the storage drive. This is why your computer seems to run slower when it's low on memory; it has to pull data from the storage drive in order to use it. It is reccomended to purchase a computer with 8GB of RAM for casual computer usage and internet browsing, 16GB for spreadsheets and other office programs, and at least 32GB for gamers and multimedia creators.

COMPUTER

Typically, society sees photographers editing on their phone as "unprofessional." Having a computer, no matter what brand, will give the appearance of professionalism.

Here are my suggestions:

Do not get a Chromebook, if you ever decide you want Adobe products they will not download.

On a budget:

$529 - Dell Inspiron 15

$579 - HP Pavilion Laptop 15t-eg300, 15.6"
